Six People in a Tiny Camper?

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the starts that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of, the mortals that you care for them? Psalm 8: 3-4

Instead of investing our time and money into beach vacations, our family bought a TINY camper and hit the road this year.

If you ever feel that the walls are caving in within your house, go camping! The thought of 6 personalities crammed into a small space may seem frightful to most, however, what you will find is that the kids are able to explore God’s country.

They are not influenced by electronics or fighting over toys. Instead, they communicate, play board games, explore and express their amazement in the numerous stars at night and their displeasure in the mosquito bites.

The Father of the National Parks, John Muir, said, “Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.”

When do you have the opportunity to be still and truly present in your family’s life?

If you are at home, there are a thousand chores waiting for completion. This is your chance to slow down, be present in the moment, listen to your kids laugh and thank God that we are able to take in a deep breath of fresh air.

There are many Biblical references in which God points out the numerous stars. Allow your family the experience to step away from the distractions at home, embrace God’s beauty and count the stars.

Happy Summer!
